We have a new addition: “Sterling,” an 8-week-old female Pointing Silver Lab. We had to drive to the far northwest reaches of Kansas (Atwood) to get her, but after 24 hours with her, it was well worth it. We found her at Lankas Labs which specializes in hunting labs including the more rare Silver breed. Believe it or not, she stayed in her new kennel without disturbing us a single time all night. She is a delight --- quick learner and of course, full of energy with a very curious sense and baby sharp teeth.
I have included three pictures. The first one is (or, should be) Sterling in a very posed position looking very regal and confident in our living room. The second shot is in a pasture not far from our house just as she was going on point on a rooster Pheasant. The third photo is her guarding her “kill,” very tired after a long day’s work!
O.K., O.K., so she wasn’t on point, it was in our yard and the Pheasant is a cloth and leather Pheasant chew toy. But, I have great hopes that it won’t be long before those pictures are reflections of the real thing.
Hope to talk to you soon.
