Un-Crating your Dog when you Aren’t Home

Most people have to be out of the house about five days a week, but it can be hard to leave your canine friend behind. Whether you’re about to bring home your first dog, or your old pal has suddenly been causing trouble while you’re away, there are some reliable measures to take.

Because you may be gone for several hours at a time, if not longer, the last thing you want is for your dog to have a lot of built up energy once you leave. The day will go by easier for your dog is they are asleep or relaxed for most of it. That’s why it’s a good idea to play with your dog in the morning to tire them out. Plus it’s always nice to get in some quality time with your dog before you have to leave for the day.

You should also make sure your dog has plenty of ways to stay busy while you’re gone. You could try placing a food-dispensing toy in the house, or even hide toys and treats around their sleeping area. The last thing you want is for your dog to get so bored they decide to chew on your furniture instead of a toy.

Taking your dog to a doggie day care or even hiring a dog walker who you’re comfortable with is another good solution. If possible, you should return home during your lunch break to take your dog out for a bathroom break and a little exercise. As long as your dog isn’t left alone for hours and hours at a time, there should be no issues!

Take advantage of these tips and you can rest easy knowing your dog will be happy and healthy while when you leave the house.
