One of the best things about the summertime is cold snack options from ice cream to popsicles. Luckily, your dog can also enjoy cols summer snacks.
There a variety of cold summer treats that are safe for your dogs to indulge in, plus many of them are healthy and delicious.
Puppy Ice Cream
You shouldn’t share your ice cream cone with your canine friend, but if you have some bananas and yogurt at home, you can make a delicious and healthy homemade dog-friendly ice cream. To create a dog friendly ice cream, you’ll need one ripe banana, a few ounces of plain yogurt, and a tablespoon of creamy peanut butter in a blender until smooth. Separate into small portions, and freeze overnight. Next time you have an ice pop, your pup can have one too!
Frozen Chew Toy
Add a bit of peanut butter, Greek or soy yogurt, fruit, or even water to your pup’s Kong toy, and freeze overnight. Your pup will be cool and satisfied as he chomps on his Kong in the summer heat.
Frozen Carrots
Carrots are a healthy and nutritious alternative to store-bought bones, and if you stick one in the freezer, your dig will stay cool and occupied as he gnaws. Just make sure you give him his carrot outside, otherwise your carpets could turn orange!
Ice Cube Tray Snacks
Blending up a few delicious ingredients and freezing them in an ice cube tray will give you lots of little treats for your pup to enjoy throughout the summer. Try Caesar’s Way’s recipe for sweet frozen fruit treats, with cantaloupe, blueberry yogurt and honey!
